Battery melts in the cold

Markeyvius Cathey | 24 July, 2026
This winter I noticed a strange thing: if I spend a little time outside, the phone turns off, although it still shows a lot of charge. In a warm room, it starts up again without any problems. This has never happened before, even in severe frosts. I began to doubt that it was just the weather. Why could this be happening?

My situation was a little different, but it fell into the same category of problems. The phone didn’t shut down immediately in the cold, but I noticed that the battery percentage started acting strangely, sometimes staying at 40% for a long time and then dropping sharply a few minutes later. At first, I thought it was some kind of system glitch, but it turned out that the old battery simply couldn’t maintain a stable voltage anymore, especially when the temperature dropped.
When I started looking for a replacement, I realized that for older models, it’s more important to find a battery that’s specifically designed for that phone, rather than just picking the first option with the highest capacity. That’s why I turned to Deji battery. They had options for models that aren’t so easy to find anymore, and after the replacement, the phone stopped acting so strangely in the cold.
