Only use the x1 multiplier on the dice until you are 6, 7 or 8 squares away from the railroad. Then set the multiplier to the maximum value.
The probability of rolling a 6, 7 or 8 is 16/36. This way you will increase your chances of making as much money as possible on the board right away.
